What a year abroad will actually cost
Pick a destination, then narrow it to a university or a course. The tuition line stops being a national average the moment you do.
These are estimates, not quotes. Every figure on this page is either something a university publishes or a stated proportion of a country's recorded living cost, and each line says which. Nothing here is a number we made up and left unexplained.

How we worked this out
- Tuition
- The indicative national range. Pick a university or a course to replace it with a published fee. A course fee is the only figure here that is a real published price. Until you choose one, the tuition line is a range across a whole university or a whole country, and your own offer letter can sit anywhere inside it.
- The four living lines
- Our data records one living-cost figure per country — a year of living for one student. Accommodation, transport and insurance are not recorded separately, so we split that single figure four ways. These four are a division of that one number, never an addition to it — the shares add up to exactly 100%, so the total still equals tuition plus the country's own living-cost range.
-
- Accommodation 50%
- Food, bills and day-to-day 34%
- Local transport 8%
- Health insurance 8%
- How firm the split is
- It is a counselling rule of thumb, not a survey. Your own split will move: a shared flat an hour from campus takes a large bite out of the accommodation line, and a country that bills health cover as a fixed government charge will not follow a percentage at all. Treat the four lines as a shape, and the total as the number that matters.
- The programme total
- The yearly figure multiplied by the programme length — 24 months. When a course publishes one whole-programme fee instead of a yearly one, we divide it by that course's own length to get the yearly line, so changing the length here scales the total without distorting the year.
- The taka figure
- Converted at a fixed rate we review by hand and last checked on 1 Aug 2026. One GBP is ৳ 156 at the rate we hold. We do not pull a live rate: this site must keep working when an exchange-rate service does not. Your bank will give you a different number on the day, and a year of currency movement can shift the programme total by a lakh or more.
- Not in this total
- The visa fee, the air fare, IELTS or PTE, document attestation, the tuition deposit you pay before the visa, setting up a room, and anything for a spouse or child. We have left these blank rather than invent them — our data does not record them and they vary too much to average honestly. A counsellor will price them for your case in one sitting.
